Lion cubs: a protected youth at the heart of the family group

  • Integration into the group: At three to four weeks of age, the lioness brings them into the family group where they mingle with the other lion cubs. From then on, the cubs suckle not only their mother, but also the other lionesses, emphasizing the spirit of cooperation between the females.
  • A long apprenticeship: Weaned at around six months, the lion cubs stay with their mother until around two years to learn the behaviors necessary for their survival.
